Awesome. Might want to add some spare ghost rock too if you like.

Each 'refuel' is a Light item. (Can just pencil this in later though if like. I tend to ask if there are any basic items you would have/like in new recursion.)

This could be very entertaining - with 2 weird scientists in the party :)

changed the necklace to a skullcap and uploaded a new version of killian (V3)

Gizmo names are great :) And I like how each has an item assigned.

Only one that did not seem like a gizmo though is the necklace? For telekinetic connections I would picture a strange helmet with wires etc. Remember each has to be an actual contraption that 'works'. Using ghost rock (like super coal) for power. Anyway, those are cool.

You don't really need specific background info for each recursion, but never hurts to generate something in case a PC asks :) And this journey might be a bit longer and there will be some Rping :)

Given McKay's affinity for tech etc on other worlds it would seem like Mad Science would be the most appropriate, however I think that in the Weird West, perhaps because things are weird, his powers are blessed.

I think he will act as if they are a curse, perhaps some devil came to him as he lay gut shot somewhere and offered to save him and give him the power to enact his revenge for some future debt yet to be announced. Besides how much of a blessing can it be to see the Flaw in All Things, always seeing what is wrong, where things are broken etc

created a few gizmos to explain powers, fueled by ghost rock. uploaded V2 of character sheet with changes, bit of detail in the orange section. let me know if i need to adjust/amend.

We don't have to fully adopt the new rules for this, but I just want to know how your magic appears & where it comes from.

For eg> If a Mad Scientist, you don't have to limit your gizmos, they don't have to have their own PPs (as they would if you actually built a Weird Scientist from type). BUT your overt powers should appear as some sort of gizmo that does require ghost rock (and could explode ;)).

Re: MAGIC - (Weird West) by ConnorsConnors, 27 Jul 2017 00:41

This is simply asking, 'Where does your magic come from?"

This must be considered in context of a recurison. But in some cases might require different rules/additions, such as mad scientist having contraptions using ghost rock to fuel the powers; a wizard needing a book to learn spells from; a sorcerer having arcane bloodline; a bard getting magic from music; a blessed/cleric channeling deity power.

Each setting has defined rules of where magic comes from.

For Weird West I have listed the available sources. Choose 1 if you have magic powers.
Huckster - magic of cards (& dealing with devil)
Mad Scientist - gizmos fueled by ghost rock
Chinese Enlightened - channeling ki
Blessed - channeling deity (priest) or spirit powers (shaman).

Re: MAGIC - (Weird West) by ConnorsConnors, 27 Jul 2017 00:36

You seem to have combined 2 there? Spirits are for Shamans (Blessed). Mad science use a fuel.

So, if you go mad science then your magic is fueled by ghost rock. Each of your over powers is a gizmo/contraption requiring ghost rock to work. (Not a spirit in a rock - that would be shaman powers or a blessed - from God etc).

I think yours suit being gizmos.

So a cool funny name for each would be cool. See my write up of Weird Scientist for the Cypher System.

Your 'force-like' powers would each be some sort of gizmo/contraption/invention/infusion.

Re: Weird West version by ConnorsConnors, 27 Jul 2017 00:31

i have had a read through the information, rock spirit (mad science) would be my preference, perhaps a pendant worn around neck to "fuel" magical powers

Re: Weird West version by iannichollsiannicholls, 26 Jul 2017 20:58

Blair - Pyrast obviously has magic powers.

Please read this thread: Magic in Recursions.

Then decide on 'how' your magic operates in WW: Huckster (card magic), Mad Science (gizmos and gadgets), Blessed (religions, spirits, etc), Enlightened (Chinese ki).

Weird West version by ConnorsConnors, 26 Jul 2017 00:44

Both T3 sheets now up: Earth prime & Weird West.

Plz look over and tell me if there is anything you wish to add/change. Such as equipment for WW.

Also need to decide what sort of caster your guy is in the WW (see Magic Thread under the Rules & Ideas forum on this site).

Re: Tier 3 Abilities by ConnorsConnors, 25 Jul 2017 02:57

Sorry. Taken down again for a moment.

noticed a couple of things wrong when doing the WW version. 9Listing so I know what to fix when I go back to Earth one).

1. Pistol. Different to what is in equipment.
2. Have not added Explores Dark Places T3 ability!
3. Add 'Vector' after resilience ability.

So, have people rad this? Make sense?

Plz indicate in PC threads what 'type of caster' you are for the Weird West recursion.

Re: MAGIC by ConnorsConnors, 25 Jul 2017 02:10

Also noticed that Killian's 'orange' section is next to empty. I don't mind, but harder to get RP chips if nothing to go on.

(But see new thread on this over at CC) :)

Added and uploaded. He did not indicate which group of weapons he was to be Trained in (remember these are Weapon Groups now), but it was easy. He is already trained in Pistols, so I added Brawling which covers his fists and knife :)

Nicko was here and I ran it through with him and he decided to take Resilience from the Vector Type.

Success. OK that was easy. Now off to delete the new section in the Site Manager.
